Manickpur forays into Education

Aptitude Tests – 2013 – Update: Cancelled

Eduation, Events

Once again, the Manickpur Education Welfare Fund has organized Aptitude Tests for school students from class 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12th. Here are the details.

Aptitude tests help to map a student’s personality and aptitude, and can provide
him/her with a sense of direction. If a student takes the aptitude tests when
he/she is in 9th standard to 12th standard, they can identify areas that need to be
improved upon, so that they increase their competence for a career of their
choice. Aptitude tests, can inform students of their proficiency in verbal and
numerical ability, abstract and mechanical reasoning, spatial reasoning, speed
and accuracy, and guide them towards possible and suitable career options
provided they are guided by experienced counselors.

Manickpur Education Welfare Fund is conducting Aptitude Assessment Tests in
association with St. Michael’s Church, Manickpur to help the students in career
planning. The tests will be conducted by a team from Prafulta Counseling Centre,

The cost of doing aptitude tests is Rs. 600/- per students, but Prafulta Counseling
centre has offered to do the tests for a nominal rate of Rs. 450/- for each student.

Aptitude Tests

Eduation, Events

School… Exams… Results… and the academic year get over… At the end of it there is one question that keeps on revolving in minds of each student and their parents “What Next?” Yes this is the question everyone has while thinking about their future career. Many times we take admission in college or any other course because someone else did that or parents want their children to go for certain course but due to wrong decisions we end up with failure in hands.

How to avoid this at initial stage? Yes we have a solution for this and that is “Aptitude Test”. An aptitude test is an exam to determine an individual’s propensity to succeed in a given activity. It examines your strengths and weaknesses and the inclinations of your success or failure in given areas based on your inherent characteristics.
Individuals might take an aptitude test to determine what kinds of careers they are well suited for. Similarly, high school students might take an aptitude test when thinking about what would be an appropriate college major or whether college is the best choice for them.
It provides you with a concrete framework for making write career decisions.
Keeping all this in mind, ‘Manickpur Education Welfare Fund’ in association with ‘Prafulta Psychological Services’ & ‘St. Michael’s Church, Manickpur’ is organizing an Aptitude Test for our student friends.

Details of which are as follows:

Date: 20th and 21st April 2012 (both days compulsory)
For: Students of Class 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12
Time: 9:00AM – 1:00PM
Registration: Last date for registration is 15th April 2012 (Limited seats)

Special day with Arvind Inamdar

Eduation, Events

The Manickpur Education Welfare Fund had inviter Mr. Arvind Inamdar (Ex-Commissioner of Police) to share his valuable expertise on IPS/ IAS/ IRS/ IFS examinations.

Here are some of the motivating thoughts shared by Mr. Inamdar:

The work that you do in your life should be excellent. There should be no compromise with:

  • Excellence
  • Truth (Truth which is beneficial to society not for yourself)

Once he asked JRD Tata – The reason for his success. JRD Tata showed him a Quote which was engraved on his desk – In our organization excellence is tolerated but perfection is our aim.

Structure of IPS-IAS exam:

  • Prelim
  • Main
  • Interview

For the interview you have to be very well prepared. It’s important that you draft the application very carefully and you are well versed with what you have written.
Eg. If you have mentioned your hobby as Cricket, you need to have all the knowledge of cricket. So you should be able to answer any question put before you by the interviewer.
Your general knowledge should be very strong. Read newspapers and other media to keep yourself up to date with the latest happenings in the world. Start the preparation from STD 12th for these examinations.

Now, the exams are also conducted in Marathi. So one can answer the papers in Marathi and also give the interview in Marathi.

You might not pass the exam but you will achieve a milestone by giving these exams. You will be a good citizen of India . So you should not be disappointed. Don’t get disappointed by the troubles of life.

Zindaki mushikilo aur toophano se bhari hai
Thoker lage toh himmat mat haro, Phir se khade ho jao aur chilake pucho, “Dhaka kisne mara be?”

Overall, it was an engrossing session attended by approximately 400 people from students to parents to grand parents. They took away a lot of learnings from Mr. Inamdar with a dash of laughter, nostalgia and serious fun.

Some pictures from the session.
